A teenager camping near the west end of Lake Winnibigoshish was attacked and injured by a wolf early on Saturday according to the DNR.

Sixteen-year-old Noah Graham of Solway was sleeping on the ground when the wolf bit him on the head, leaving an 11-inch wound that required 17 staples. Graham said that the wolf ran off into the woods after he kicked it.

Authorities later trapped and killed a wolf believed to be the one that attacked Graham. It weighed 75 lbs., had a misaligned jaw, and was missing a canine tooth, which may help explain the wolf's strange behavior. It is the first documented wolf attack on a human ever in Minnesota.
