While massive wildfires continue to burn out west, Minnesota also remains under hightened fire danger. Parts of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) have been closed because of two fires burning there. A third fire was extinguished on Wednesday.

Sixteen firefighters are battling one near Knife Lake that has burned approximately 100 acres and is 40% contained. A much smaller fire at Sedative Lake was reported to be 60% contained. Crews on the ground are being assisted by two airplanes and one helicopter. All entry points to the BWCAW remain open.
