Developers broke ground on the new Country Inn & Suites hotel and Cowboy Jack's restaurant on Wednesday afternoon in Bemidji. The new hotel and restaurant will be attached to the Sanford Center on the South Shore of Lake Bemidji.
The project has been in the works for nearly two years and is another addition to the booming hotel industry in town. Tripp Snyder, CEO of Bay Ridge Properties Int'l, explained, "Coach Peters told me earlier today we will be the first [hotel] in the country attached to an NCAA hockey arena. So another first for Bemidji."
The new hotel will have 121 rooms, 47 of which will be suites. Snyder was noncommital on when the hotel would open, but said the restaurant should be open sometime during hockey season.
