The Bemidji City Council voted Tuesday night to move forward with incentives for developers of a new housing project near the university campus.
The council unanimously approved a development agreement that reimburses Peterson Development LLC for work to be done for replacing the water main and sanitary sewer on the site of the old high school at 15th Street and Bemidji Avenue. The project, to be called "University Heights," will eventually provide new student housing and commercial space.
The city also agreed to move forward with the purchase of a parcel of land north of Walgreen's. It plans to extend 24th Street to the intersection of Irvine Avenue.
